The best time to come for travel
immunisations is at least 4 weeks
before you plan to travel. You don’t
need to see your GP as the practice
nurses
are trained to give travel advice
and we check for up to date
information on travel health
internet sites.
Also, when going on
holiday, remember to be aware of sun
precautions and to use high factor
sun creams to protect your skin.
When you book your
holidays to go abroad why don’t you
make a telephone appointment at the
same time, to check with one of the
practice nurses about what
precautions you might need to take?
We often get people coming to get
immunisations at the last minute
which doesn’t always leave the body
enough time to build up anti bodies
to protect them against tropical
diseases. With a few exceptions
travel immunisations are free.
We can also give you information
about insect bite avoidance, malaria
prevention and what precautions to
take if you do get an upset tummy,
amongst other things.
